Dennis received his B.A. degree in Zoology and Chemistry from the University of South Dakota and M.A. in Aquatic Ecology from Mankato State University, Minnesota. He received additional graduate education at Arizona State University and as a National Science Foundation grant recipient at the University of Washington Friday Harbor Marine Laboratory.
He has been employed by the Bureau of Reclamation for seven years as an adaptive management specialist in the area of environmental compliance for large hydroelectric dams. In this capacity he works as a facilitator to resolve environmental conflicts through collaborative processes. Prior to his present employment, he worked for the Arizona Game and Fish Department for 15 years as a research statistician and nongame wildlife supervisor in charge of programs for conservation of wildlife species threatened with extinction.
Dennis also has been employed as a research associate, college instructor, project manager and private consultant. As a research associate employed by Arizona State University and the University of California Riverside, he conducted investigations on desert aquatic ecosystems that were subject to disturbance from human activities. At Scottsdale Community College he served as a Visiting Instructor of Chemistry. His environmental consulting experience includes design and management of projects investigating the environmental effects of federal dams, solar power plants, off-road vehicles, and acid rain. His role in health care consulting is centered in the areas of project management, facilitation of conflict resolution, and information systems support.
Dennis has worked with mainframe, mini and personal computer systems for more than 20 years. He has designed and managed large databases, conducted a wide variety of statistical analyses on these data and produced numerous computer-generated reports and publications in technical and popular journals.
